Health & Safety Training and Certificate in Health and Safety Basics

Advanced Occupational Health & Safety for Committees* - Price: $99

This course is designed to provide OH&S representatives, committee members and employers with the tools and resources to help improve the success of their workplace OH&S program. 

It is recommended that participants complete a basic OH&S course prior to enrollment in this course.

Basic Occupational Health & Safety* - Price: $99

This course is designed to educate workers and employers on their rights and responsibilities, as mandated within the Yukon Occupational Health & Safety Act.  Participants will gain valuable insight into potential workplace hazards, and learn how to stay safe within their work environments.

Basics of Workers' Compensation - Price: $59

This 1/2 day course provides an overview of WCB, and introduces the concepts of RTW planning and the new supporting RTW legislation. The essentials of RTW are discussed, along with key points to keep in mind when getting workers back to work early and safely. This session is a pre-requisite to the 1 and 2 day Fundamentals of RTW Planning courses.

Chemical Hazards in the Workplace/WHMIS Awareness* - Price: $99

This course explores the damaging health & environmental effects of the many chemicals that we are exposed to on a daily basis. Toxic chemical ingredients can cause serious health effects.  Through this course, we will examine those linked to cancer, neurological disorders, and asthma.It's vital that we take action.  Ask yourself:  Do I know what a "safe" level of chemical exposure is?  If not, then this course is for you.

Climate Change* - Price: $99

This course will introduce participants to the science of climate change and it's impact on the environment. Discussions will also focus on ways to address climate change and how the union movement can ensure that there is a just transition to a suitable economy.

Fundamentals of Return to Work Planning (2 day) - Price: $199

This course offers an array of hands on tools and practical applications as participants work together to create functional Return to Work plans. There are many barriers to overcome and pitfalls to avoid; employers & employees need to work together to implement successful RTW processes and programs within their organizations. This course will set you on your way!

Generating Solutions to Musculoskeletal Injuries (MSI) in the Workplace* - Price: $99

This course looks at what is needed to prevent MSI in the workplace.  The benefits of proper work design, equipment and space will be explored to ensure a safe work environment for all.

Incident Investigation* - Price: $99

This course explores the legal requirements for employers and OH&S committee members in conducting investigations into workplace accidents/incidents.  Participants will be provided with instruction and skills practice for gathering facts, analyzing results and determining contributing factors and causes.

The repercussions of workplace violence can be devastating for both workers and employers.  This course assists in identifying potentially violent situations, and in developing plans for violence prevention.

Return to Work Refresher

This 3 hour session provides an overview of the new RTW legislation for participants who attended the RTW course series prior to July, 2008. Relevant sections of the Worker's Compensation Act and the supporting RTW policies will be reviewed in the context of a general refresher of key RTW concepts,
