This youth conference was a great success. We had over 60 registrants, and the feedback was great. The young people enjoyed the opportunity to learn about their rights, and we hope they will go forward into their work lives empowered with a greater understanding of workplace safety, and how to stay safe on the job.

YFL Denounces Cuts for Status of Women regional offices

The Yukon Federation of Labour said today that the recent announcement by Minister Beverly Oda and the federal government to cut funding and close most of the regional offices in Canada is a further example that the current federal government intends to erode women’s equality in our country. Labour Issues Campaign a success

The Yukon Federation of Labour reports that the Labour Issues Campaign is achieving the desired result. YFL President Alex Furlong said, "We have been successful in getting all three parties to talk about labour's issues". Furlong pointed out that the top three of seven issues in the labour campaign -- child care, health care and privatization -- are all crucial. "All parties have had an opportunity to address the issues", Furlong's Press Release states. "It will be up to our members to have a say in who will form the next government".
